Say ‘no more’ to roadside zoos in Ontario

Ontario has the weakest regulations in Canada when it comes to captive wildlife – which is why dozens of roadside zoos continue to operate.

Animals at roadside zoos typically live and suffer in barren environments with little enrichment or proper care. Plus, escapes, injuries and attacks can and do happen, putting our communities at risk.

Across the province, municipalities are stepping up by adopting World Animal Protection’s resolution calling on the Ontario government to finally take responsibility for captive wildlife through mandatory zoo licensing. When municipalities pass this resolution, it is forwarded to key government leaders – building pressure for long-overdue reform.

We need your voice. Will you write to your Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) today and urge them to support strong provincial action to end roadside zoos?

Every message increases pressure on the provincial government to act, reinforcing the growing call for Ontario to introduce meaningful regulations that protect animals and ensure oversight and licensing of zoos.
